I know the are a lot of variables and water temp is probably the most significant but normally speaking when do you stop crabbing and wait till next year? Sept? Oct? later?

We finally have some good boating weather. Toms River is crabbed out by the commercial guys (just saw one today about 3ish) and I have not gotten much in the past few weeks. Some is due to the weather we had I am sure

so do you go for depth or more shallow inland or in the estuaries?
what seems to work for you?

I would really like to get some more crabbing in but want to maximize the catch and go where they are  Grin

thanks for the advice!

I have not gone out in a few weeks due to work and weather but I am itching to give it another try

If you go by water temp 55 is the lowest for me... 65-60 I set deep in tidal flow areas.

Same here.  Mid to early November.   You kill and it goes to zero.  They do not trail off.  They just stop.   65 monster on Tuesday and that Saturday 3 spider crabs in the same spot.

Mid November last year.

I stop when the crabs stop biting.   A couple of years ago, I was catching crabs well into December.

As Ron Said Into December, Ron is South Jersey, That is possible, In Central Jersey You Will Always Get November Crabs, just how much into November is the question, In 2011 or 2012 I Had a December 5th trip with 44 male keepers.
