Is anyone familiar with the Niceville area in Florida? I have set up a crab trap in Choctawhatchee Bay and have had zero luck.  I see crabs all around and have caught them by hand, but not with a trap (I used chicken necks and fish head on two separate occasions).  Any suggestions on where to put the trap? Thank you!

The Cinco Bayou bridge on Eglin Parkway has its own walkway that you can use for crabbing. If you use a commercial trap, bait it with fish scraps or chicken, stuff the bait holder full and leave trap overnight and check it the next day. You really need about three traps to get enough to eat, but sometimes the trap will have a couple dozen in it, but mostly a trap with ten crabs would be about average.
Let us know how you do.
