With all of this 70 degree weather, I'm going to take advantage of it and get out there. Again I made it to my favorite spot for another go round. I was on the water at 0635 today. I leisurely paddled to my spot and definitely was in no hurry knowing legal set time isn't until almost 8 o'clock. I stopped along the way to take some pics of the sunrise . Finally I made to where I wanted to set up at around 0720. I decided to use a different area today. I began baiting up the 30 rings and had them ready to be set at 0735. I hemmed and hawed and looked on the forum until it was time to set at 0752.
It was again a good start. Today, however, I was going to be very selective and try to not bring back any of the lighter crabs. There are plenty of them still down there and I want to at least give them a chance to be caught next week when they might be a little fuller. Plus I was going for size today. It was a lazy kind of day where I didn't try to go too fast and Plenty of crabs were caught. Again I was focusing more on size, weight and shell hardness.
I may have thrown back about 3 dozen legal crabs ranging in size from 5.5 - 7.5 inches. If they were whities or flexed too much they went back in. I managed to get a total of 57 in my basket today. I did keep some of the 5.5 inch boys if they were solid. I originally didn't want to, but the really big boys got scarce there toward the end. I ended up with a solid 2 dozen that were all 6.5 and above. I had about 2 dozen that were about 6 inches.
I actually caught a doubler today. The water is still fairly warm. So, I guess that could still be possible. Hopefully this warm weather will continue for just a little longer. I believe I may get out there two more times before I am done. I'll be back out again next Monday. Some pics to follow

You've got it bad, the crabbing disease, LOL. Don't blame you though, if the crabs were still numerous in the Magothy, I'd still go.  Thanks for your report. Taking only solid, heavy crabs makes the eating part that much better. Only problem is whether to eat the big ones first or the small one. I like to finish eating crabs with several of the big ones.

I'm enjoying it too much. I'll be picking them all tomorrow.  I may eat a couple, but these and the others I may get are going to be vacuum sealed for the winter months. I have some already packed away but I want to make sure I have enough.

My wife and I are gettin old so We always eat the big ones first... And if we're still alive the rest get picked out for dip or whatever.   BTW, My grandmother used to eat her dessert first, and she said it was for the same reason.

LOL, thanks for sharing that. As for dessert. I too believe you should eat dessert 1st. But for the reason that the main course may fill you up and you may not have room for dessert.
