welcome to metuchen!

navesink -

i've seen people crab from land off this park just past the route 35 bridge on the oysterpoint side.  This is probably the safest of the options for a 10 yr old but I'm not sure though if there are any crabs upriver this time of year though.  I've never crabbed there but every time i was on a boat this past year i saw some folks using traps there.

You could also try off the oceanic bridge parking area - it's not ideal for a 10 yr old and you will need a long line to your traps (for perspective watch this video i found).  BTW It's illegal to crab off the bridge itself.

Shrewsbury has a bridge (gooseneck) that requires even longer length of line for the traps.  Never been there myself.

fairhaven dock is also a spot.  Again I've never heard of any folks going there this late in the year - but that spot should also be safe for a 10 yr old.

Thanks!! Iíll look into it for sure. Heís a good kid that doesnít run off easily and very mature for his age so I can easily manage him in dangerous spots and appreciate the heads up.
