CRAB NATION 4 LIFE

Ignore
« on: November 03, 2017, 08:55:09 PM »

Hello fellow crabbers I am a longtime reader 1st time poster! I went out yesterday for what I thought was to be my last trip of the year but maaaaybe not. The parking lot had 1 trailer and he was putting in just before me and said he caught a 1/2 bushel 1 week prior. I did the same but was on the Miles in 12'-16'. Ok back to yesterday....
1200' of line with CN as well as 6 Hoops to burn time and allow some soaking. Laid out at 8:30, 13'-19'-12' tide was dead low on its way in. Ran the line 3x didn't see a crab. Had the Hoops in 7',9, 13', 15' pulled them 1x and caught 1, 6" keeper!  Ran back up river to the only other crabber out there (from the ramp) he was in a creek 5'-7' and had 3 onboard. Ran the line again 0 so I picked up and moved out 2 miles to open water 10'-12' with still no signs of any other crabbers just one eel trapping work boat!
Ran the line about 8x and racked up 24 nice crabs. Had 8 throw backs and did not see 1 female. At 1:00 I pulled up and headed in where I had left the pots, pulled them and did the baits were untouched.
Checked with the ramp guy on the way in and he had 11 onboard and was not happy! I was happy to have dinner! Water temp was 59 at the start and 62 at 1pm so they are going to hunker down soon but this weekend I think there is still time to gett'em!
I was considering a trip to Crisfield next week anyone hear if they are still catching them down there?

Nice effort, 24 crabs  to steam and eat is a good thing.
