Well I had a sense that the recent cold spell may have pushed them into the mud but I decided to roll the dice this afternoon anyway.

I was rewarded with a beautiful brisk day on the water, but not many crabs.  Started in my usual spot with 25 traps baited with chicken legs and did two runs without a single keeper.  Did have half a dozen minis but that and 50 cents would get me a cup of coffee!

Moved to some deeper water and picked up half a dozen keepers on a few more runs before calling it a day.

This was my first serious season of crabbing and man did I ever have a blast!  I got to meet some great people from the site here and I learned a ton by combing through this amazing repository of crabbing knowledge.  A million Thank Yous to all of you for all your help.  You all pitched in with your knowledge, insights and reports and were never even aware that you were aiding in the development of this newbie
😜👍

Tomorrow the duck blind goes on the boat and the bag of traps will be replaced with a bag of decoys.  Already looking forward to next season and seeing you all on the water!

I've loved it for years,  And even re-discovered it with a few changes.

It's truly my get away from all the BS and people.

The Crabfest in Woodstown is a great meeting place in February.  Ron was smart enough to give us name tags so we know who the screen name goes with.  Makes meeting a lot easier.

CONGRATS on 1st year.  Now you start tweaking your own techniques.

Glad you had fun this year. I've loved crabbing since the very 1st time my dad took me, when I was 6 years old. You're right about lots of good people, with good info and help, on this forum! Hope it's a short winter and the crabs are out early next year.
