I read about this too and wondered the same thing. 200 yards and shooting at, what he thought was a deer, with a pistol? First of all I was always taught you don't shoot at an animal unless you can identify what it is your shooting at and second I can't even imagine shooting at a deer 200 yards away with a shotgun slug let alone a pistol.

But the worst part is someone losing their life over someone else's stupidity / mistake.
