I live in Union County, and it seems that most places that appear when I search up places to go crabbing are at least an hour's drive away. I don't vacation much, either. Any idea where crabs live in any nearby waters (Like, Echo Lake or other nearby bodies of water)?

Thanks in advanced!

Crabs live in brackish water, not freshwater lakes.

Closest in Arthur Kill between Elizabeth and Staten Island for Union County. That's to the east.  No place else.   I would not eat anything out of there.  Or head south.

There is no clean salt or brackish water in Union County shoreline(Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway) .  Need south of the Raritan River ( the BIG Parkway bridge goes over it).

Keyport and Sandy hook area are not all that far from Union County.  Way less than an hour.  I'm in Bergen county and closest was Cheesequake when it had a ramp in Sayreville/Laurence and that was just over an hour from me.
