Hello all,
I searched around , but couldn't find an answer. How long can you keep chicken necks frozen and still be good for bait?

I know a few people say they get new bait every year. But I use the bait from the year before as long as it has not hit the water. If it's been used it gets tossed. But I use the bait from the year before.

I think most of us crabbers would agree that fresh bait is the best, but I have caught many crabs on frozen bait during the crabbing season and also frozen bait from the previous season. I hate wasting money so if I can freeze unused bait, I will do it every time.

I always use previous year's frozen leftovers. Works just fine.

Thanks for the response. My wife through out some bait I had stored in my basement freezer.
On another note. I saved some old chicken breast that I was going to use as bait. She thawed them out for dinner.
Needless to say they didn't smell so good and I ended up going out for dinner. Note to self LABEL ALL BAIT
