Targetting Stone Crabs
«

Anyone want to give me their ideas on targeting Stone Crabs in NC ? I catch a few scattered in my pots with blue crabs and mainly around oyster bars in 3-5 foot of water. Some days I catch 10-15- other days 0-1 or 2. I also notice they are mainly night feeders as I rarely catch any during the daylight hours. Seek structure? closer to docks? deeper in channels ?

here in Florida they appear to be nocturnal also.
Structure? Probably only that they can create a burrow under.
I look for rock piles or the edges of ledges. I don't get too many here either.

Wow- Shell- that platter probably has about my yearly take of legal sized ones here. Will try closer to the channel and seek more mess in the water. I have seen a few borrow's and can normally catch those if I set near them. Thanks for your reply !!
