I am going to be moving further south in a few years and needed some advice.  What would be a good town to live in for easy access to DE and MD crabbing?  I am not familiar with DE or MD and would like to relocate to a scenic place close to great crabbing.  I would think somewhere between both bays would be great but don't know anything about the towns in either state along the DelMarVa.   Any advice would be great.   Thanks!

It all depends on your housing budget.   Wink

Part will depend on if you want to be on the water and crab out the back door or will you be willing to trailer a boat to different areas? If you are making a permanent relocation then you might want to consider somewhere in DE due to much lower property taxes.

Everbody's aunt and uncle moved there because of that. Leipsic used to have a good run of females in May.Then the males slowly came on after that . Delaware Bay has decent crabs. Plenty of mosquitos, chiggers and gnats too.

Not quite true. There is a small amount excluded but if you have a decent pension it will be taxed although with the no sales tax and very low property tax DE is an attractive retirement state.

Gary, thanks for that info.  I'd always heard no state income tax for retirees.
I've heard lottsa companies incorporate in DE for a better corporate tax deal.
So with no sales tax and low property tax, low corporate tax,  how does the DE government function?

Here in MD we get taxed to death and the government is still crying for more. (actually not so far with Hogan (republican governor), but it seems like taxes go up  every time a democratic governor gets in office.

To be fair Ehrlich, the last republican governor ran on a ticket of not raising taxes. So he didn't, but he did double the tolls on bridges and tunnels.  That was so the out of state people passing through could help the insatiable appetite  for government $$.

Harford Crabber, I see you are in Aberdeen. I'm retired from APG as is my wife so I've heard all about MD and their tax woes from supporting B-Mo. DE offers better corporate tax rates and so has many corporations considering their size.

All excellent advice for some great Crabbing, it is refreshing to see
somebody giving a good place to crab. The best crabs come from
the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries, anywhere that CRAB SHACK
advised is great Crabbing in MARYLAND ! You might want to consider
living in Delaware and Crabbing in Maryland. I live in Pa and Crab in
Maryland. Pa is the land of high taxes, I know I live here but I am too
old to relocate!

Thanks for the great advice....I am pretty sure I will relocate somewhere near Felton DE, and be within easy reach of either Bay.  Lower taxes in DE and not far at all from great crabbing areas east or west...
