Soaked a few pots for 44 hours on Tuesday and netted 21 blue crabs with one 8" +. A few smalls (51/2" a 6") but most in the 7-8" range and heavy! This picture appears to be only 8" but the actual size was 8 1/4" (the tips didn't show up well in the pic). Got more to check on Saturday.

Not too much of a problem with poachers so far. But I have seen some commercial guys abandon their pots in some areas of the bay - these guys should be punished for that travesty - blue crabs are just not that popular here it seems, or it costs too much some of the time to run commercial lines.

I'm not sure if that crab is checking the weather or if he's reading up on the ponies!

Thanks for the report and you did real well! Those rae nice sized crabs! There have not been many reports for the Florida area. Where has Witchy woman been? I haven't been out myself but the water is cooling down around Daytona area.

Sorry for the delay in replying to all - got caught up in the Xmas flurry of activity. That crab was definitely looking for a tip at Tampa Bay Downs! The ponies are running now through Early May. Ran 5 pots. Plan on running a few more as soon as the temps get back to normal!
