Temperature in the mid to high 70's barometer at 30.22 strong east wind to 30 and mostly overcast. Brief shower passed through. Ring traps with chicken legs. The crabs at first were real skittish swimming out the side of the traps before I could get them in. Topless traps wouldn't allow that! After an hour I only had 5 crabs. Soon though the crabs settled down and in 4 hours I got 26 crabs with just one throwback. Size from 6 to 7 7/8" with most around 6.5".
When I got there two bald Eagles were keeping me company also a Roseate Spoonbill and white Pelicans. Nice to see!
A fella was suiting up to take a walk at the shoreline. When I was packing up he returned with four very nice and fat Gator Trout. A very productive day! Crabs were steamed up with Apple Cider vinegar, water, beer and JO#2. 4 for dinner! Umm Ummm  good!  Pictures to follow tomorrow. I'm going surf fishing right now.

There were a pair of Bald Eagles keeping me company while crabbing along with a Roseate Spoonbill.
I dumped the crabs into a wheelbarrow  prior to steaming  for a photograph. This is the most crabs I have ever caught in one outing. I usually stop at 12 or 16 but I had a buddy visiting who likes crabs!

Man, that's the life!  Smiley

We did not go surf fishing today. Wind blowing 20 - 30 mph! Will try again on Thursday or Friday. My buddy is down from Virginia visiting but has to head home on Sunday. I gave him 10 of the cooked crabs to eat as he is running out of time for a crabbing trip.

The picture is of the crabbing spot and there should two Bald Eagles in the picture somewhere! You can just see a bit of white in teh center of the picture,. This last picture just gives an overview of the marsh I was crabbing. My biggest carb was at 7 13/16 inches. It's not a good picture of accurate measurement. It is the 70th crab I caught in 2018.
I measured him with a caliper and took an accurate picture. I'll post these photos later when I download another group.
