I can get about 3,000' of line with an orange basket of clams at 6-8' spacing and that depends on which lines I use.

Mike, i run 3800ft and spacing 12 ft also. I bait 3 to 6 in a bag depending on size and 3 if they are really big is my minimum. It takes a full bag - bushel to bait my line. because i'm just a weekend guy i use the same bait sun and still catch pretty good depending on how the clams are or how many bu i catch on sat.

Hope it's not like last year when you needed a bushel of clams to catch a half bushel of crabs in some places.

over 4 th july weekend i crabbed 3 days with 2 bu clams for 12 bu last year. PS sounds like clam prices will be lower this season then last.

Tell him about the other days you crabbed for a half bushel. I saw other crabbers at the dock with a half bushel on 3 thousand ft. too. this year should be much better.

Patapsco crabs can't smell the rotten clams thanks to all the other things floating in there. You could probably get 12 bushels baiting your line with old sneakers.

You're right about that. That's why I'm putting out Pots this year.
