Does anyone know how the new boating safety class requirements will effect renting a boat in Jersey?

you need to have passed a Boating Safety Course in Jersey to drive a boat after 6/1/06 if you live in New Jersey more then 90 days a year and born after 1971 born before that I believe you have until next year. If you live in Jersey less then 90 days you still need to course, but it can be taken in another state.

My brother's father inlaws marina Larsens had to take a course so he is certified to train people. I was just advised by him that if you are renting a boat you do not need the safety course

I live in Philly and have a certificate. If you are in NJ waters, no matter where you are from, you need a certificate. I don't know the regs for renting.

Whats the big deal you guys? Just take the test an keep the "MAN" off your back. Besides, some people need a refresher course. How many times have you see some jerk and thought to yourself "You should have to take a test to be out here" But I do think that part of it should be a test on ramp and dock etiquette.
