Went to the newly rebuilt Port Orange Causeway Park pier yesterday to see how that crabbing was.  I had never been to this location.  Dropped my 6 ring nets by 6:00 am.  Crabbing was very slow all day.  I left at around 11:30 with only 6 keeper males.  I used chicken legs as bait.  Speaking to a lady, she said that the crabbing at this location was usually pretty good.  Not sure if I just came on a slow day.  I was catching 5 - 10 hermit crabs at a time which got very old after a while.  I will probably give this location another try in the future.

Thanks for the report! Your results are about average for whats going on this year! I did a scout around yesterday. One crabber at Riverbreeze with a commercial style trap. One small crab only. No one was at Goodriches. There was a couple crabbing at the south causeway in NSB under the bridge. She said they were there two hours with four ring nets and had two crabs. She then said they were relocating to the north Causeway docks to try it there. We both drove there and there was no one crabbing there.
This has been a terrible year for crabbing with results only one or at best two crabs an hour. Usually at this time of year people would be filling coolers!

I agree.  Last year was my first year crabbing and I came close to filling coolers on multiple occasions.  Getting jealous reading all of the good reports from the crabbers up north!
