Sometimes when I (we ) are disappointed about the number of crabs we catch, and then sit down at the dinner table to eat the few good ones we got, those chunks of  sweet white meat we managed are way, way worth it. So be in the moment and don't stress over quantity. That's where I try to be. I'm a fanatic surf fisherman also and, besides a fat keeper pompano, I would give up ten whiting for one large blue claw or stone crab claw in season. Best of luck to all of you.

Don't forget the docks on the bay side of the National Seashore north. They were my go to places when everything else wasn't working. Easy to co exist with the fishermen there, at east in my experience.

Hang in there my friend, the mullet run and Stone crabbing is right around the bend. We are blessed every day.

I am usually very appreciaive of what we've got!
This year though the crabbing has been off; way off!
I haven't bothered since April.
Last week I spoke with a crabber using four ring traps with chicken.
In two hours he caught one 5" crab.
I just came from the ocks and spoke with an Asian woman;same set up.
One crab in two hours! Witch1031 was  also there! i have not seen or heard of her in quite some time!
Great to speak with her again!  She reports zero crabs in about two hours!
Tough to be overly appreciative of not too much! I am more appreciative of my good health than the crab situation!

I am wondering if the Shrimp run will be negatively affected this winter?
