I'm going to stay at a resort in south hampton next week with my underaged kids and I wasn't sure if I needed a permit to do some recreational crabbing.

I thought crabbing did not need a license or permit, and I think "shellfish" permits are for clams, mussels, oysters (mollusks).

When I called the town clerk, they said "shellfishing" requires a permit, but I'm not sure if that includes crabbing.  Of course they say yes, but I want a legal definition, not an opinion.

The "shellfish" permit application is below, let me know if you think it applies to crabbing.
