Anyone know of any place Monmouth county and northwards  that you can walk in and walk out after purchasing topless traps in hand?

I do mail order from some trailer place in DE that marks up someone else's and has almost no stock.

There are people here who make them too.  I tried to get a Tackle Box in Hazlet to stock them buy they got hung up on terms and availability so that never happened.

Thoughts?  I'd usually buy stuff at March's Crabfest, but looks like Ronster (on FB) is understandability getting tired of all the work it needs to happen and Crabfest in NJ may go to memory lane status soon.

The traps they sell aren't great.   American Blue Claw traps....   Tongue

Advantages:
  • Some topless traps stack together saving room when you store them without having to fold and unfold all of your traps.
I've watched crabs circle a regular box trap as if they were deciding whether to go inside or not and I have watched them decide not to go inside.  I have never seen any hesitation to go into a topless trap.
Disadvantage:
  • You need to be able to haul the trap in quickly and steady or your crabs will climb out and get away.

I bought some rolls of coated wire from EZ. Great pricing and a pleasure to deal with. I live in South Jersey and found them through an eBay listing.
