After a lack of success south of Oak Hill I wanted to know if anything was at Goodriches. I dropped in three ring traps. Two were baited with Black Sea Bass heads and one with a Vermillion Snapper head. After one hour and four trap pulls I only caught  one 4 inch crab that was released to grow some more.
I don't know if it was the back to back hurricanes we had, all the heavy rain we had last spring and summer or if it's just their seven year cycle but crabs are few and far between! It will be a while before I give them another try! I don't know how other areas of Florida are doing; I've heard no reports.

I spent 2 Februarys at Oak Hill Fish camp next to Good Riches and had a crab pot out  from my  cabin  on the water . All I caught was snails. The fishing stinks there too. A guide showed me a place about 10 miles from the camp n the Indian River where I took a fish camp kayak and did good with  Tarpon, Snook and Trout. I could see Gator slides along the secluded canal and that made me a bit nervous but I never saw any Gators.

Thanks for the report.  Sorry to hear the lack of results.  I have been taking a few weeks off.  Thinking about heading out in the next few weeks.  I sure hope this next season things pick up!
