If your rig is less than 26' the only signage you actually need is the injury placard... regardless of whatever Barney tells ya. And no your throw cushion which is substituted for a life ring doesn't need 60' of rope. I just bookmark the coast guard regs on my phone so I can educate officers who have no idea what they are doing.

No need to buy the plackards ,  the Coast Guard gives them away for free. contact the commercial fishing safety inspectors in your area, you can also make one yourself, just copy the wording from the internet.  i also have several extra injury plackards, which is all u need for boat under 26 ft.   i can mail u one.

   here is the wording
Each vessel must have posted in a
highly visible location accessible to
the crew a placard measuring at least 5
inches by 7 inches (127 millimeters by
178 millimeters) which reads:
Notice
Report All Injuries
United States law, 46 United States Code
10603, requires each seaman on a fishing vessel,
fish processing vessel, or fish tender vessel
to notify the master or individual in
charge of the vessel or other agent of the employer
regarding any illness, disability, or
injury suffered by the seaman when in service
to the vessel not later than seven days
after the date on which the illness, disability,
or injury arose.
