Hunting Guides Around Cambridge MD

Hey Everyone,
I have never been able to get into hunting much, but would like to take my dad out with me as we’re all getting older and trying to enjoy the time we have left. Does anyone have any good suggestions for hunting guides around the Cambridge area? Thanks for any insight.

I was thinking Sika deer, duck, or geese. Any suggestions for a group of primarily first timers?

When are you going? So I know when to stay out of the woods. Just kidding with you. Good luck if you make it out.

I can't comment on Sika deer but any good guide should be able to cope well with first timers for goose hunting. You should give them a heads up about that when you call though.

Thanks @Mr. Ray
@arti0972–that’s a reasonable request
in all reality, trying to keep the group small, maybe me and two others—possibly me and just one other. Would rather keep the numbers low if possible.
To all—any suggestions on learning hunting basics and the like? I have always heard it’s great to have a mentor to show you the ropes, but unfortunately, I just don’t know anyone like that. Any classes besides the basic hunting safety courses anyone would suggest. I know it isn’t hands on experience, but any books that are valuable to cover? Thanks all. I’d really like to learn as much as I can so hopefully I can be the mentor one day to my own.

You do know that you're going to have to have the hunter safety class to get your license, right?
They do have an apprentice license where you take an online course, but you have to stay with a licensed resident hunter.

I was not aware that was true if you were hunting using a guide like Schraders. I would like to take the course anyway, but I thought that was not needed in that case.

There's an exemption for a 3 day, non-resident, waterfowl only license and another for hunting on a Regulated Shooting Area license where you only shoot released birds and no wild birds. I don't believe just hunting with a guide takes care of all of the requirements. You should probably look into it, if you need to take a course the timing might not be good this time of the year.

I think you can do the course online but test in person? Maybe I’m thinking of something else.
