Hello friends,
I headed out to Oak Hill this morning to give them a try. Instead of my usual ring nets and hand lining from the dock. I decided to try out my kayak.  I cut up two  pool noodles to use as floats on each of the lines and it worked great! Grin. It was low tide when I arrived.  I paddled out in the slough and threw them out periodically.  After 20 minutes I made my first round and caught  5 keepers and missed at least that many Cry. It was a learning experience for me and by the end of the trip I finally got the hang  of it. I wound up taking home 29 keepers and as usual threw back a lot of small ones. It was a great day and yes I have cooked them.. Here are a few pics.

Great catch, thanks for the report. In a kayak is what I have been meaning to try, glad to see it works. I plan on also bring some traps and letting them soak while using ring nets. Mark

Way to go, sounds like you are going to become more experienced with crabbing in a kayak this year. Thanks for sharing.

Good report, thanks. I'm planning to get out with a canoe and ring nets using pool noodles as floats.  Great catch, enjoy.
