I have wanted to fish hoopers island for a long time from my kayak. Finally got the chance. Traffic was horrible and took an hour longer then it should have. Started off drifting near the deepest parts trying to catch some croaker. Only caught 1 small croaker and a few small spot. Decided to paddle my way to the bridge. Anchored up and started to catch some big spot. Tossed out some chunks of bunker but no luck. I could see fish breaking the water but no takers. Tossed out bottom rig with sandwarms and kept catching large spot and 1 large white perch. Kept the larger ones to eat. I did catch 1 short rock with a jig. It was on my ultra light action rod. Thought it was going to be 24 inches the way it fought but ended up only being around 16 inches. It was a fun trip and saw a great sunset.

At the end of the day, it's not about how many fish or crabs you put in the cooler but about how many memories you put in your life and the lives of your "mates".

Those sunsets down there are pretty awesome. The mosquitoes totally tore me up my last time down there at night and I didn't catch much.

Had to be a fun trip, no big ones but still plenty of fish to reel in.
