Thanks for the selection, BJ1fish

It should be seen as the very top entry in the Crab Steaming, Cooking & Recipes board.

Okay, So this began when I heard of enthusiastic crab connoisseur who spoke up for various cooking methods.  They sounded as though these were as mainstream as steaming.  While the poll respondents were not as many as desired - nonetheless there is a reasonable extrapolation to be gathered from the results.

  • Steamed crabs are the most common cooking method t over 78% popularity
  • Boiled crabs, which many spoke highly of, gathered a distant 17%
  • Baked had 4%
  • Fried was added as an option after having that request
  • Ceviche and other, had no takers.

Just like any poll, the preponderance of the people surveyed will control the result. If you had done a survey of people from strictly the Southern extremes, boiling would have won. I think all of the methods have their merits.

No doubt.  It was definitely open to all and influenced only by those with the means and desire to participate.  It is not meant to discourage or invalidate various methods which may very well all be good.  But by what method is most popular across the board, there can only be one?  Is no longer a question.
