First time out of Secretary boat ramp for me, nice ramp, but a long ride from Hartly DE. Went out on the river set up in 20 to 21 foot of water, 1000' necks seen 5 crabs all day. I'm not taking it as a loss, didn't expect to get any as I was teaching a new comer, who never ran a line or drove a boat, he wanted to learn. And I wanted to teach/show him so next year I will have a crabbing partner, and he lives just down the road from me. All in all it was a great day out on the water, lots of laughs and he learned a lot. We are going to hit them hard next year. Now I need to start fishing and deer hunting to fill the freezers. Wink

I talked to a friend of mine later last night who commercial crabs there. He said we setup in the wrong place, we were straight across in front of the clefts. He said we should have went a little more north and stayed on the east side of the river. Next time I'll know.

You should have launched from Cambridge and gone downriver about 8 miles.  Crabs mostly left upriver a few weeks ago.

Just one of the few bad apples that keeps wizzing in the MSSA's and TF's milk.  Not because I have violations (because I don't'), but because I'm catching the resources that they claim to own and have more rights to.
