Just checking the water temp in my area in relation to last year and back to 2017. Seems that we have a plus 3 degree reading.  This has got to play on the winter kill in the Northeast,,, (CT).  Hopeful  for an early spring and a banner year !!!

the air temps in Md this winter have been very mild IMHO and while it could be easy on the crab pop. the problem comes when a hard cold snap sets in for a period of time long enough to drop water temps too low for the crabs that come out during warmer years and that can kill them. The long term weather forecast for md says it's not likely but we all know it could happen.

Water temp in our creek is mid 40s.. Normally mid to low 30s this time of year.

Maybe all of those scientists are on to something when they talk about global warming.

Probably not. I wondered how long that would take to come up.

jp57

Maybe someday you'll get into facts and data.

Maybe you would like Mars, it's -80F there. Me personally, I enjoy the nice weather and don't always search for negative reasons to explain such things as a pleasant day in February.

Wallco99

WHO CARES!!! A 55 degree day in February, in the northeast,  is awesome in my opinion. Warm on Globe....Warm on!!!!!!!

I believe what my own eyes tell me, in my 61 yrs I have watched the climate change. I have lived at the shore for 50+ yrs and it is obvious of the higher tides and stronger storms are the new norm. I like a mild winter
but worry long term what kind of earth our kids and grandkids will have to live with. I do think mankind better
take the issue seriously if you care about what kind of planet do you want to leave for the future. This issue also is
already having effects on marine life of all types, something even a skeptic cant ignore. I don't understand how this
is even a political issue more of a quality of life issue to me. Facts do matter and I do believe the overwhelming number of experts, you know they call them scientists say the problem is real and needs to be dealt with. Going
green sensibly should be a boost to the world economy, trying to bring back coal is a folly that is dying on its own
economics vs. other sources. Go Greta go, I wonder if she wants to go crabbing, row boat for sure.

No one said climate may not be a little different nowadays, but automatically attributing it to human behavior is ridiculous. How do you know that the Earth didn't slightly shift on it's axis a tiny bit, which would cause milder weather. YOU DON"T. So blaming it on things like the Ford Expedition and cow farts is just lazy, and really, unprovable, regardless of how many times they say they can.Maybe the fact that there are so damned many people on this planet that their body heat is starting to warm it up. What's next on this agenda? Ban PEOPLE??

Rick, I probably cause more gas emmisions than most cattle. In the last ten years alone, the hottest avg.
temps. Hey I like a mild winter, don't mind not having to shovel snow, but me I think it is at least partially human
caused. I don't think it is anti- American to get away from fossil fuels. That is the politics; you are not a true patriot
unless you want to pollute as much as you can. I put solar on my roof and my elec . bill is half. You say you like the mild winter, well I think 98deg. summer days suck. We have our debates but I consider you a friend (hardheaded)
and politics has no place in this issue. And again I invite you to Jersey crab this season, I'll pay the tolls.  Squid

I'm 76 and in our Science class, we were taught that the last ice age was still in its last stage before a new one could start.  I am an avid reader and have never seen it mentioned since.  The weather has surely changed over my life time.  I am not so sure that Man can change it, although we can improve our treatment of the Planet.

You got it, Mike.
How about assault on patcong, my boat or if you want to tow yours I'm good to go. I hope you
were serious and not sarcastic. I will pm you about my bro, not great news but not the worst.

Wallco99

No sarcasm. But I won't be doing that outing. Hoping the best for Steve.

The earth may be in a warming cycle    Man has nothing to do with it.  I live near bodkin creek there was once a point and a light house there. The point eroded and the light house collapsed that was in the 1930s.  Now its 6 foot deep  there  Yea let's go green because that's work so well.  The last administration spent a trillion dollars on there stimulus plan .  A lot of that money went to the green movement.  How did that work out?  Gas and electric are fairly cheap thanks to coal miners and drilllers.  People use " climate change" as a cover for socialism ie. AOC / Sanders so it is political. Many of the liberals want you to feel guilty for living in the greatest country in the world. This mild winter should be good for the crabs.
