I stopped at Goodriches before going to the Oak Hill flea market as ususal. There has not been any crabbers at Goodriches for quite a while!
Today there was one crabber on the dock. I stopped to find out how the crabbing was as I was planning on getting out crabbing again myself.
The fella had three crab nets and one crab trap in the water all baited with chicken. I asked him how long he had been there and he replied about an hour; he had no crabs in his bucket! I asked if he had caught any crabs. He said he has not seen any crabs at all! I told him this place usually produces but evidently not today! Before I left he again checked his nets and traps. Not a single crab! I was surprised!
Crabbing has not been good in this area for some time and it only seems to be getting worse!

down here in Stuart, the local fish house told me his crabs are coming from Ala.......He said the few local crabs are of poor quality....sad as this area had a commercial crabmeat house in 1960's..

It sure has changed down here and not for the better!
I miss the big crabs I got in CT and the clams!
There is no shortage of Oysters hete in FL and they allow four five gallon buckets of whole Oysters a day!
Last tiem I got Oysters my back said I had enough at 2.5 gallons! They lasted about 2-3 days! I don't know how many people you could serve with four 5 gallon buckets!
