Got 3 live lobster for my sons birthday, 2lb each. I was going to steam them but see a lot of recipes for boiling. What do you think is best? Would love to hear from some true Maine residents on how they prefer them.

I'm not from Maine, but I prefer them steamed just because it saves a lot of mess from the water in the shell when boiled. If you boil them, it helps if you hold them upside down by the tail and clip the points of the claws off with a pair of cutters and let the water drain out before you put them on the plate.

Is there any difference on steam time vs. boil time?

I'm 45 minutes steam on the pre-clean, and they are perfect every time.

I do 15-20 depending on size and sex. Females need a bit more time to make sure any eggs (coral) gets cooked!
Steaming is better than boiling. More taste intensity. Boiling wshes some flavor away.

Did you know they used to use lobsters to feed prisoners?

Yeh, I hear they're staking out your development for an easy burglary.  I'm pretty sure they're targeting your power-washer.  I'm speaking about the lobsters of course.   laugh laugh laugh

Is that what that is out there? I thought we had giant scorpions. I'll have to cancel the exterminator and grab a net.
