I stumbled upon the book " Beautiful Swimmers" a while back while surfing the web for Blue Claw information. I now see that info was right here all along. Anyway, with the lock down I finally started reading it and am sad to say just about finished. It is a great read. Warner paints a wonderful picture of the life of the watermen and ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. It is definitely worth a read over a Winter break or pandemic laugh I wonder if any of the old timers on here know any of the watermen in the book?

It's also out on audio book. I might do that at another time. The text size in my $4.00 old copy is amazingly small.

It's been a long time since I read it, probably should dig it out and read it again. One of Lester Lee's sons (from the Chapter "Lester Lee and the Chicken Neckers") is Ted Lee. I've been buying bait from him since the early 1970's. He's still located in the same spot in Dominion. I remember seeing Lester's boat tied to a stake off of the landing at Goodhand's Creek after he was gone and one of his other sons had it. The junk pile near the Kent Narrows Bridge where Lester stopped to scrounge up a trotline anchor is long gone, as are most of the other landmarks from that time period. A lot of changes and many more coming.

Thatís pretty cool. I figured some of you would have connections with the names in the book.

My Bride and I sat and watched the video and it brought tears to my eyes because long ago I was a crabber on the Chesapeake bay and the upper reaches of the bay catching huge Crabs those of you who have seen my pictures know that I am no bull Sitter If I tell it you can bet it is the truth. I miss the getting up early in the morning and driving 2 or 3 hours to launch my boat and spend the day on the water with my Grandson Catching Crabs or fishing. I always had a big thermos of hot coffee and a lot of fresh water with sodas for my Grandson on board along with a healthy lunch of egg salad & peanut butter and jelly  sandwiches and snacks of all kinds. I am sad that these days are behind me now but my memory's are as sharp as they were the days that it happened. I do have a few pictures to remind me of days gone by and I will share them as I remember them. Thanks for the video Sergey we loved it .
