Do razor clams need to be cleaned to avoid “impurities”?
«

Greetings,
I was reading an online article that advised that razor clams need to be cleaned, before using them for crab bait.
“The foremost thing that you need to do is cleaning the razor clam that is pretty easier. Don’t use them straight up as bait because it can affect the health of a crab due to impurities attached with them.“
Is this true?

I was able to search for this article. It doesn’t sound to legit. There are many discrepancies in the writing. I’m not sure where all the info came from. Here is the link I found.

After reading I had to double check and make sure it wasn't posted by The Onion.

I can't imagine a clam could have any more "impurities" then a crab has, since they all live in the same place eating the same things. Plus the cooking process would kill any bacteria/impurities.
I have often wondered how safe eating raw oysters is though? I've eaten a lot of them with no issues and have never heard of anybody having a problem. Except for those trying them for the first time, that can't keep em down!

Articles in the Onion usually exhibit reasonably good grammar and syntax
