First Sit Of The Year

Spent the evening relaxing with nature for the first time this season this past Saturday. It felt great to breathe the fresh air and watch nature do its thing. I sat out on the field edge of a place I can hunt with the intent of using Severe Crop Damage tags. I was fortunate enough to take two nice does with the 450 bushmaster (single shot). First one laid where she stood and the other had its last sprint to the edge of the field (25 yards). I didn't have to take one step into the woods.
I dont have an atv trailer yet, so both deer were strapped to my deer cart and pushed out (570 yards to the vehicle). I must say, you never really realize how out of shape you are until you drag a deer. lol

LOL, tell me about it. I hit a thick doe on Friday evening and she ran down to the bottom of the ravine to the creek side. My legs felt it the next 2 days.

I shot 2 deer at the end of the season and I had to take a 20 min rest before driving.
I have been trying to go with a friend every time so I can have someone help me drag the deer out. Im getting smarter about it.

Get yourself a "sled". Best purchase I ever made.

I have to drag up a hill and fallen trees. Not sure how well a sled will do. I use a deer cart and with an extra hand it makes it much easier.

I have the same type of terrain on our one property. Works great. When taking a break, I use a tree to prevent the sled from trying to drift back down the hill. The sled will drag over the smaller downed trees. The bigger trees, I have to go around
