Fellow Crabbers:
Boat and all gear had been put up last week. Saw the nice weather coming and I usually make one last trip in early Nov and went out this past Sat morning. Pulled out of Wittman landing around 6:45 and fog was so thick I had to drop my line about 1 mile from landing. I could not believe the number of crabs coming up but
had to cull out all the little guys. I stayed there about 2 hours and kept about 20 keepers.  Fog burned off around 9:30 and I moved into main channel but laid my line over a sandbar ( water was about 2 ft deep) and back out toward channel where it was about 5-6 ft.  Again just lots of crabs and several times there would be 2 on same bait, but mist were undersized so had to wait until you got some keepers. I left around 12:30 and had about 2/3 bushel but nothing over 7”. Never seen this many crabs this late in the year, but good sign next year will be a good one as long as we don’t getting any deep freeze.

Solid crabbing year.

Thanks for the report.  I was seeing quite a few smalls as well.  I agree, it was an amazing year!
