11/6 south of Oxford on the Tred

[Addicted to Crab]

Since the water temp is dropping and the last trip to the Kent Island area was slowing down, I thought I'd try the southern side of the Tred Avon.   Necks on 28 traps and 600' of snooded line in 12-18', tried traps in 9 -18' and not surprisingly, pretty much everything I caught was in 17-18' so I moved all the traps out there.  It was slow and ended up with 32 crabs ranging from legal to 6.75.   Most were nicely packed and some had great pockets of mustard.  Threw back about the same number of crabs, mostly smalls, but a few large females too.   Water temp ranged from 57 to 59 at the surface, so I am probably calling it quits for the year unless we get an extended warm spell.  This season, I managed to pack away over 20 lbs of crab meat and 5 lbs of claw for the winter/spring - so I guess it was a decent year for a solo rec crabber.  Hopefully next year is at least as good
