We could not pass up this nice weather and decided to try a little further south on the eastern shore than previous weeks.

We pulled away from the ramp at 7:15 AM and quickly noticed the 46 degree water temps on the way out. Our goal was just 1-2 dozen each, but that thought dwindled as we motored out and the water temp never increased. We ran 1200' of fowl necks and 24 rings/nets with clams in 14' - 22'. After a very brief soak we ran the line and to our surprise it was on! We had 9 keepers on the 1st run and an equal amount of throwbacks or females. The line produced all day, the traps started very slow with just 1-3 crabs per run. Later in the day the traps did much better. Sort of wished we had some extra chicken to try on the traps.

Ended the day with 1.5 bushels+ and well over our 1-2 dozen each goal! We never moved the line. The water temps almost hit 50. Most of the crabs had rusty bottoms and all were solid, no flexers. November 21st is the latest I've ever crabbed and I'm not sure if we're done yet...

Enjoy the pics!

Polarkraft you never cease to amaze me with your crab catches and
beautiful pictures also. You have got some very nice crabs there and
they have got to be some of the tastiest crabs of the entire season.
Thanks for a great report , don't put your gear away just yet you might
surprise yourself with another great day on the water. Tight lines and
full baskets to you Friend !

Do you remember if the crab I circled was culled out? If he was legal, by comparison, you had some big boys in that catch. Excellent job.

Yeah, that's the catch bucket, culled crabs are in the wooden baskets. Culled at 5.5" for the most part. Most were in the 5.75-6.5"  range and a few approaching 7"...
We net everything and dump the shorts and females away from where we're crabbing.

Great to see you still catching crabs.  I moved on to fishing and hunting and sadly put away my crab gear.  It was still my best season yet.  Looks like you had a great season too.  Enjoy the holidays!
