Saw the Solomon's posts and figured I'd give it once last go here at Thanksgiving.  Set out with 15 topless traps with a mixture of frozen necks and shrimp heads.  I kinda figured my gear wouldn't be able to go deep enough, they are only set up for 16 feet, and my 10 original traps have so many knots in the line I need to clean up that they are probably closer to 14 ft.  Hit the water about 8am on the incoming tide.  Set up from 14ft to 10ft.  Boated a little more than 30 crabs, almost all were caught in the same 5 traps around 11ft.  Unfortunately only 5 of them were keepers, so just a light afternoon snack.  Wrapped up around noon.

Heck yeah man. I did catch crabs as shallow as 5'. But like you said almost no keepers up there. But for sure there are still crabs to be caught.

I suspect you were in same creek that I was in on Nov 9.  We had 1200' in 17-21' and a dozen traps in 8-12' .   Our catch was about same as yours around 30 crabs.  Some in traps, most on the line.   Last year at 11:11 AM on 11/11/19 we were pulling out of Solomon's ramp parking lot with 2 packed bushels of 6-8" heavy crabs all from line in same lay.   Crazy the difference a year makes... Shucks, sometimes it's crazy the difference a day makes.

Happy Thanksgiving all you crabby people!!
