What is the general water quality
In Tom's river ?
Is it noticeably funky ?
Would you eat crabs from there

I would definitely NOT EAT CRABS WITHOUT HESITATION.  No WAY!!   I much prefer them cooked and you get bit too unless youre careful.  LOL

There are no crabs in the Toms River or in that entire area.

Toms River in my opinion is fine especially where it meets the bay. That being said, there are times that the Beach in the Borough of Beachwood is closed during the summer due to high bacteria levels. Many of the storm drains run off water goes right into the bay. However I have been crabbing Toms River/Ocean Gate/Good Luck Point area for 50 years and never had an issue with getting sick...etc..
